TANDEM LIVING Announces Affiliation with Calvary Fellowship Homes (“Calvary Homes”)
LANCASTER, Pa. – June 18, 2024 – TANDEM LIVING is pleased to announce its intention to affiliate with Calvary Homes, Inc., a Christian continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Lancaster, PA. The affiliation aims to strengthen the long-term health and vitality of both organizations while continuing to provide exceptional care for residents.
The affiliation process is underway, with Tandem Living and Calvary Homes having initiated the legal proceedings required for government approval. The legal affiliation is expected to be finalized in a few months. When completed, Calvary Homes will become a Tandem Living community.
“We are committed that residents continue to receive the highest quality of care,” said John Sauder, President of Tandem Living. “The combined strength of both organizations will help us better meet current and future challenges.” Through this affiliation, Calvary Homes’ skilled nursing and personal care services will be relocated to Tandem Living’s Trillium Place, providing a seamless transition between the two five-star care facilities. The Tandem Living governing board is comprised of members from the former Mennonite Home Communities and Calvary Homes Boards of Directors.
Dr. Penny Clawson, Chair of the Calvary Homes Board of Directors, and Dale Weaver, President & CEO of Calvary Homes, announced the proposed affiliation to Calvary Homes’ constituents in a joint statement today. “During my six years of service on the Board, I have observed external forces press in on Calvary Homes,” said Clawson. “These include rising costs, permanent inflation, and inadequate government funding. We concluded that these trends would eventually result in Calvary Homes becoming unable to continue its mission of quality care. It was clear that a solution needed to be identified.”
Weaver added, “We believe the Lord directed us to an outstanding partner in Tandem Living. Located only three and a half miles from Calvary Homes, Tandem Living shares our mission and Christian faith.” Weaver added, “The financial strength and proximity of the combined communities provides a strategic advantage. We can relocate our skilled nursing and personal care services to the 5-star care at Trillium Place. By doing so, the unified organization achieves operational efficiencies to sustain our mission into the future.”
The affiliation preserves Calvary Homes’ Statement of Faith and mission: To serve senior adults, enriching their lives in a manner that glorifies our Lord Jesus Christ while maximizing quality of life.
Skilled nursing and personal care residents at Calvary Homes are expected to move to Trillium Place in July and August.
